5 October, London – English language courses provider Kaplan International Colleges (KIC) has reached 20,000 “likes” on Facebook after launching its social media presence a year ago. To celebrate this milestone, KIC has launched a contest on its Facebook Page, and will give away an iPad2 to the winning “fan”.

The contest will remain open until 28th October, when the winner will be drawn. Anyone can participate for free by visiting the Kaplan International Colleges Facebook Page, filling in a short form and answering one question.
In each of its English schools across eight countries, Kaplan International Colleges has developed local student communities on its College Facebook Pages. Over a year ago, KIC launched its International Facebook Page which has grown steadily to reach 20,000 visitors who are past, current, and possibly future students.
“Our social media activities are a fantastic way of listening, communicating and sharing in a way that wasn’t possible in the past. We see social media as a two-way street and are using it to add to our students’ online social experience,” said Robert Pickstone, KIC’s Social Media Manager.
“We share information related to language, travel and being a student in ways that are fun, interesting and easy to share. Engaging our student communities in feeding back their experiences and encouraging activity from our fans helps us to understand them better.”
KIC has also launched International Facebook Pages in 12 languages to be even closer to its students all over the world, providing a space to communicate and share in their own local language. Some of these pages have reached a high number of “likes”, with some, like the Spanish speaking community, winning more than 11,000.
