Why Kaplan English students love the Dublin nightlife

Ever heard of the craic? In Ireland, good craic, pronounced crack, means anything lively, exciting, fun and friendly. Dublin has A LOT of good craic.

If you’ve never been to Dublin before, the first stop on the nightlife tour while you study here with Kaplan has to be the Lansdowne’s ‘Irish house parties’. These spirited events, featuring traditional Irish music and dancing, leave you buzzing with energy.

Move to the popular Temple Bar district to continue your Irish education, and sip locally made Guinness at Dublin’s thriving Oliver St. John Gogarty’s pub. Take another bite of Irish culture at the Pier house restaurant, for beautiful Kilronan harbour views and contemporary Irish cuisine.

Spend the rest of your night in fits of laughter at the Ha’penny Bridge Inn’s open mic comedy night. If that isn’t your thing, try rubbing shoulders with Dublin’s high society in Lillie’s Bordello, the nightclub that feels more like a luxurious mansion.

Now you’ve soaked up the local culture, it’s time for you and your friends from Kaplan International Colleges’ Dublin school to try something new. Dublin isn’t just great for that typical Irish party spirit, it’s also home to some unusual after-dark delights. Try the fiery Chilli Choc Martini at the Morgan Hotel’s stylish bar, or the delicious authentic Nepalese cuisine of Monty’s of Kathmandu. Travel all over the world without leaving the city at the Jameson Dublin International Film festival or get lost in fashionable Pravda, the enormous Russian-themed live music venue.

For a modern Dublin twist, try the Helix theatre’s 3 rooms of cutting edge performances. Students, on the other hand, love Heat, the student night at Tripod nightclub, offering a diverse range of musical styles and generous drinks deals.

The best of both worlds, Dublin has clung on to its fiery Irish traditions and combined them with the highlights of modern nightlife…it really is the home of good craic.

Are you one of the lucky students who have already studied with Kaplan in Dublin? We want to hear your stories; they could even be turned into a blog post and published right here for everyone to see! If you’re interested, just leave a comment below.
